Amanda, the Kingsburys’ youngest, and only daughter, graduated from Rift Valley Academy in 2009, and in April 2010 finished a concentrated course in Missions at Elim Bible Institute. She greatly enjoyed her year in the U.S., where she experienced real snow for the first time. She returned to Kenya in July 2010 and proceeded to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Daystar University in 2014. During that time, she became reacquainted (through Facebook) with Thuo Mugwe, whom she had met while in Jr. High. They married in 2016, on Amanda’s return from a 1½ year stay in the US where she studied, and was certified in, Massage Therapy. Thuo works with Equity Bank. They live in Limuru with son, Declan (3 years) and Jaiyana (4 mos), who was born on 4th of July, 2020, 40 years to the day from when Chip and Chari arrived in Kenya. Amanda continues to have a keen interest in Ukarimu Ministries, well after her internship with us in 2013-2014 while Thuo joined the Ukarimu Ministries Board in January 2020. He is very helpful in helping us observe the best financial practices.
